You can justify to the world why you did what you did, but as long you are not honest with yourself, it can be difficult to find peace. — Jacqueline Pearce, MSEd, LMHC

Confidence is something that some people have and some people don’t. Those who have it get their way and those who don’t have a more difficult time getting what they want. Luckily, confidence is something that can be learned for those who don’t naturally have it. If you’re someone looking to become more confident, use some of the tips below.
In my view, living authentically means living a life fueled by the consistent goal of manifesting our values in everything we do. — Joshua Nash, LPC-S
Remove All Negativity From Your Life
Negativity is the enemy of confidence. When we have negative thoughts or feelings, they lower our self-esteem and make us feel as though we are not enough to accomplish our goals or overcome the boundaries in front of us. In order to become confident, you will first need to clear out all of the limiting beliefs that you have for yourself. Replace these beliefs with thoughts such as I am in love with me and I am strong enough to overcome my limits. These positive thoughts will boost your confidence levels and will carry you through difficult situations, which is what builds confidence.
Improve Upon Your Less-Than-Perfect Areas
Let’s face it, we all have parts of ourselves that we wish we could change. Some parts, such as our eye color or the way our hair parts, cannot be changed. Our personalities and the way that we present ourselves, however, can be changed. For example, you may have noticed that you have been rather rude to your friends and family lately. That is something that you are able to change with the right plans and determination. If you have these types of flaws, recognize them and change them to build your confidence.

Take Care of Yourself
In order to be confident, you are going to need to look and feel confident. That doesn’t mean you need to have a perfectly sculpted abdominal area or a $5,000 outfit. It means that you will need to start taking care of yourself so that you can begin to feel like a winner when you look in the mirror. Take time out of your day to exercise, groom yourself to the best of your ability, and dress to impress no matter where you are going. You’ll be surprised by how these type of things affect your confidence.
Set Small Goals for Yourself and Achieve Them
People who try to build their confidence by achieving larger-than-life goals are only setting themselves up for failure. What you need to do to build your confidence is to set small goals, that way you won’t experience failure in pursuit of them, which will only bring down your self-confidence. Some examples of small goals that you can set for yourself are going job hunting, tackling the mess in the garage, or smiling at every person that you meet throughout your day. Your goals will depend on what you are looking to achieve in life but the end goal of this exercise is always the same.
So, if you are experiencing sudden panic, feeling overwhelmed or unable to control your emotions, it could be possible that these feelings could be traced back to an unprocessed memory still needing to be sorted out into your long term bank. — Laura Palisin LPCC
Surround Yourself With People Who Build You Up
People who are beacons of negativity are just as bad as negative thoughts. They make an effort to tear you and everyone around them down constantly and they will not stop until you are completely broken. Instead of allowing these toxic people into your life, create a support group of positive people whose purpose in life is to help the world and build people up. These are the people you will turn to when things get rough and these are the people who will be the biggest support in your journey to becoming a more confident person.
We are told repeatedly that honesty is the most important of all ethics. However, what people tend to forget to teach us is the importance of self-honesty. — Jacqueline Pearce, MSEd, LMHC

However, it is important to be completely honest with yourself when you are attempting to improve yourself. Here is how you can begin to be honest with where you are in your life.

Losing hope for the future is a terrible thing to experience. For any number of reasons, you can’t see the path that lies ahead and you believe that there is nothing left to look forward to in life, which can lead to depression, ill behaviors such as addiction, and suicidal ideation. Just because you can’t see it, however, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a future waiting for you. Here is what you should do when you see no future for yourself.
